Softcore: Rated R For Everyone

Alarmist as this might come off…but we’re not exactly on the trajectory of dreaming up rainbows and unicorns. Facebook is(and always have been) in the core business of peddling addictive entertainment in exchange for all the little dirty details of your day to day. Been up to your knees in Trumpian memes? They got it. Using cat videos to lessen the blow of a recent breakup? Double got it. To make matters worse, Black Mirror, our favorite heart-throbbing, after-work entertainment doubles over as a window into our desolate technology-heavy future. And there’s, as suggested, nothing humanity can do to rollback a perceived foregone conclusion. Such is the turbulent times we live in. Don’t fret. You’ll be long gone. But not before you heed the good words of Softcore: Dig into some dang good food nostalgia, sit in the sidelines and watch the world burn(Okay, I made that up).

What’s In It For Me?

Label me an Instagram enthusiast(which really is a more easily digestible way of saying addict; then again, who among us, isn’t one?) but just like I’m certain that not all Asians are predestined to become math whizzes, some places, by virtue of pure aesthetic genius, are slated for Instagram stardom. Look no further than the Instagram staple that is Softcore, a cafe slinging all manners of heavenly bliss food but as far as us entitled Millennials are concerned, we’re real trigger happy to shoot down anything not worthy enough to grace the covers of our pages. So the existential question remains: Is it a worthwhile sacrifice to the Insta gods(or Snapchat, if you’re trying to keep the streak alive)? Definitely. Look no further than any of the lava cake variations in all its oozing, foreplay-like beauty. I’m not one to initiate a meal with dessert at its head but as with any contrarian worth their rebellious salt, starting with desserts(lava cakes) and making way into mains(rice bowls) is right up my alley. As for any unintentional strays that happen upon this feature, do what you will. We’re living in a simulated world anyways, so enjoy it.

While it lasts…
